Responsibilities of the Senior Network Security Engineer
• Design, implementation and operation services for following technologies:
- L3 IP Networks, Multi-VRF, VRF-Lite, IP/MPLSo Switching: campus design multi-VLAN
- Cyber security technologies: Firewall, DMZ, authentication, IPS
- IP Sec VPN, DMVPN, FLEXVPN
- Wireless: central switching with light-weight access points
• Definition and introduction of new network architectures and technologies:
- Definition of optimal and state of the art architecture meeting constraints of capacity, reliability, redundancy and price
- Definition and execution of test plans
- Management of vendors to implement optimal architecture
- Coaching of staff during introduction of new technologies through technical workshops, procedures,
• Technical Management of existing networks and technologies;
- Definition of technical rules and procedures to standardize and optimize daily management (remote configuration, inventory, backup, alarming, NMS, )
- Offering technical support to the team for daily management tasks and network extensions
- Analysis of complex fault situations and definition of measures to avoid them in the future; these tasks may require strong cooperation with other Elia teams
- Management of vendors during network extensions and during solving complex fault situations in order to guarantee to a maximum the reliability of Elias networks
Profile of the Senior Network Security Engineer
• Should hold a bachelors or master degree in electronics, ICT or telecommunications, or have equivalent technical experience in this field,
• Must have an all-round and in-depth conceptual, theoretical, practical and operational knowledge of IP Networks and their management in multi-site environments and data centres:
o L3 IP Networks, Multi-VRF, VRF-Lite, IP/MPLS
o Switching: campus design multi-VLAN
o Cyber security technologies: Firewall, DMZ, authentication, IPS
o IP Sec VPN, DMVPN, FLEXVPN
o Wireless: central switching with light-weight access points
• Must have already a few years of experience as Senior IP Network Engineer,
• Must be willing to continuously refine and broaden his technical knowledge of IP networks and their management,
• Knowledge of Nokia routers (SR-OS) is an asset
• Needs to be able to work independently and methodically, have a sense of responsibility and can assess risks accurately,
• Needs to be customer-oriented and cope well with stress,
• Needs to be flexible and approachable (tasks may be suddenly interrupted by urgent operational issues),
• Must have good communication skills for interacting with other colleagues, departments, suppliers, service providers,
• You are able to speak, read and write Dutch, French and English.
• You have a driving license B
