I learned about IT at a young age and, alongside entrepreneurship, it’s in my bones.
In our series ‘People of Pauwels Consulting’, our colleagues introduce themselves and talk about their work experiences and ambitions.
Today, we are going to get acquainted with Pieter Ardinois, the new IT director at Pauwels Consulting. If you’d like to find out more, read on!
Pieter: Of course! My name is Pieter Ardinois. I’m the father of two beautiful children and I live in Ghent.
Pieter: I studied courses in becoming a social assistant, advertising design and history, but all too often I was distracted by my love of entrepreneurship, so I always combined my studies with working.
Pieter: My career has always revolved around entrepreneurship. For the last fifteen years, I’ve been working as an entrepreneur in the IT sector, a domain where I feel at home. I learned about IT at a young age and, alongside entrepreneurship, it’s in my bones.
Pieter: Forming a vision, transforming it into a plan and then rigorously going for it gives me lots of energy every day.
Entrepreneurship is synonymous for ‘undertaking’ or ‘doing’. All the aspects involved in building a company are now such a part of me that I can barely imagine any other life.
Pieter: Besides entrepreneurship and technology, I’m very passionate about music, although I don’t have any specific preference for a particular genre. However, my record collection isn’t growing as quickly as it used to with the advent of Spotify and digital purchases.
Besides that, endurance running is a form of yoga for me. As an ultrarunner, I often run for more than three hours to process ideas and impressions.
Pieter: I had been aware of the name Pauwels Consulting for several years, but the name became even more prominent when the company sponsored the Ghent Marathon. That’s when I first came into contact with them.
Pieter: Pauwels Consulting is a company with an open mind, an incredible drive to surpass itself and a lot of room for initiative. Right from the first interviews, I really felt at home.
Pieter: There is no fixed set of tasks, which obviously makes the work all the more enjoyable. My day starts with checking news in the market, following up customer requests and carrying out administrative tasks.
At 9 in the morning, we hold a meeting with the IT recruiters and account managers to go over the day’s tasks.
My working day is mainly filled with consultations and supporting various teams, as well as customer visits. In the evening, I catch up with technical news and try to share useful things with the team.
Pieter: Inspiring a team to surpass themselves and seeing them celebrate a victory or the achievement of an ambitious goal. I don’t distinguish between sales, operational or technical teams.
Pieter: An IT entrepreneur once said: “Software is eating the world.” IT and technology are increasingly present within our day-to-day private and professional lives.
My ambition is to contribute to this evolution with the Pauwels Consulting’s IT unit by transferring the passion for technology, building up knowledge and, ultimately, exploiting it for our customers.
Pieter: Most definitely:
“Just do it.” (Smiles.)
