On July 1, 2015, Pauwels Consulting will open its sixth office in Lille, France. In the meantime David Paris, an experienced industrial pharmacist, has joined Pauwels Consulting as account manager to prepare the expansion of our services from our Lille office. We had a short interview with David about his ambitions and plans with Pauwels Consulting in France.
David, welcome to Pauwels Consulting. Can you please introduce yourself?
Of course. I’m David Paris, 35 years old, married and father of two little girls of 2 and 5 years old. I grew up, I studied and I currently live in Lille, the beautiful city in the north of France.
Can you tell us a little bit about your background?
Sure. I’m an industrial pharmacist since 2005. I graduated from the Faculté de Pharmacie de Lille.
During my studies, I had the opportunity to gain experience in the fields of Quality Assurance (LFB), Production (LFB, Schering) and Industrial Development (Sanofi-Aventis).
My first job in 2005 consisted of transferring the production of drugs (tablets and capsules) on the Rottendorf Pharma site. In 2006, I started working on Quality Assurance with LFB (biological plasma-derived drugs).
In 2007, I got the chance to help set up the Saint-Amand-les-Eaux site. I was in charge of setting up a production unit for vaccines. In 2014, I created a new service for visual inspection.
In the past 10 years in the pharmaceutical industry, I gained experience in various areas such as security, quality assurance, production, continuous improvement, management and the training and development of personnel. This broad background makes me quite versatile.
How did you get in touch with Pauwels Consulting?
I met Jalal Hijazi, a consultant of Pauwels Consulting, at GSK. Jalal did a great job during a project on visual inspection. Pauwels Consulting immediately came across as a company with high standards and with values and a work ethic similar to mine.
Since I wanted to develop consulting services in the north of France and since Pauwels Consulting was looking for opportunities to further expand its services in France, the idea for working together came quite naturally.
What opportunities do you see for Pauwels Consulting in France?
There are plenty of opportunities for Pauwels Consulting in France. With more than 200 production sites covering various technologies and with the growing demand for outsourcing (80 000 full time equivalents in total), the business potential in France is huge.
The new Pauwels Consulting office will be located in Lille. Lille is an attractive city with easy access to and from other large cities in France and Belgium. And Lille has an extra bonus: it’s close to our offices in Ghent and Diegem, which will facilitate the exchange and alignment of ideas with our colleagues in Ghent and Brussels.
What are your ambitions for Pauwels Consulting in France?
I want to further strengthen our relationships with large pharmaceutical companies such as GSK and Sanofi, region by region, one client at a time.
How will you realize these ambitions? What are your plans with Pauwels Consulting in France?
By installing a new office in Lille, we will improve our visibility for our existing and new clients and our future colleagues in France. I will focus on business development and I will probably bring together a dedicated team of recruiters for our French activities.
I will also focus on strengthening the relationships with institutions of higher education. I will mainly target engineering schools and universities.
I will put a lot of effort in broadcasting the Pauwels Consulting story and company culture. Pauwels Consulting is an approachable, flexible and attractive company. I want to put our business and our culture forward during interviews and different events for clients and future colleagues.
It will definitely be an exciting year and I am very happy with this opportunity. I will do my best to help with the expansion of our services in France.
It’s an honor and a pleasure to join the Pauwels Consulting team. I look forward to meeting and exceeding the goals we have defined.
Thank you for this interview, David. Welcome to the team and all the best of luck!
